South America Sports Tour 2017!

During the Summer holidays students from the current year 11 and 12 went on a sports tour to South America. There were 53 pupils in total who took part in hockey, football and rugby fixtures against some of the top independent schools in Chile and Argentina. The standard of the games was very high, but all three teams acquitted themselves well and produced some excellent performances. When they weren’t playing fixtures, pupils were able to take in some of the sights in Santiago and Buenos Aires – these included trips to the famous Boca Junior football stadium and the Gran Torre Santiago (which is the tallest building in South America).

Pupils were also hosted by the opposition school for two nights. This was a tremendous way of experiencing South American culture and the pupils mixed really well with their peers. Hopefully this is a trip that the pupils will remember for a long time!

Invitation to ‘Jamnesty’!

Dame Alice Owen’s Amnesty International Youth Group is excited to announce that on Friday 13th October there will be a whole-school music event, cheerfully entitled ‘Jamnesty’, in aid of Amnesty International.

Students from all year groups are welcome to attend the event (parents may also attend if they wish). By buying a ticket students will be able to watch outstanding performances from a variety of student groups and bands, whose musical ability has been proven countless times before, as well as contributing to a fantastic cause. All profits will be donated to Amnesty International and the incredible two-hour line-up will ensure that a brilliant time will be had by all!
