Parental Drug Awareness Workshop!
We were very pleased to welcome Vanessa Rogers, a former Hertfordshire County Council Schools Drug Education Consultant, to the School last week. She delivered an excellent drug awareness workshop to a packed audience of parents/carers and staff. She provided practical, up-to-date information and also gave useful tips on how to talk about this sensitive subject at home and initiate a conversation with a teenager.
Many thanks for her kind permission to post the presentation and an information leaflet on our website – please see the ‘Documents’ box to the right in order to view.
OSA Spring Quiz Night announced!
A message from the OSA (Owen’s School Association):
‘This year’s OSA Spring Quiz is being held on Saturday 11th March 2017. The quiz nights are very popular and we aim to make the evening a fun way to raise some money for the school and for you to meet other Owen’s parents whether you’re a quiz new comer or regular quiz goer. You can book as a team or let us put you together with other parents of the same year/form group. Food is included and the bar will be open as usual.
Offers of raffle prizes will be greatly appreciated, please email Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org‘
DAOS Harmony Group raise money for charity!
The Close Harmony Group went carol singing in St Pancras station during the Christmas period, enjoying lots of festive cheer and support from the thousands of travellers who passed through on their journeys. In just one and a half hours, they managed to raise £380 for Amnesty International, and many people stopped to listen and appreciate their fantastic singing. Thanks to Ms Makepeace Lott, the group’s vocal director, and to all the students who gave their time so readily to help support such a good cause!
