Second Chamber Concert showcases new talent!

Congratulations to all our fabulous young musicians who performed in last night’s Chamber Concert, the second one of this term. Our Chamber Concert programmes present a great mix of all our many smaller school ensembles, alongside solo, duet and trio performances.

Last night’s concert featured the Junior Percussion Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Senior Percussion Ensemble, Year 9 and Year 10 String Quartets, Saxophone Ensemble, Cello Ensemble, Jazz Piano Trio, Year 10 Piano Trio, Advanced Clarinet Ensemble, Double Reed Ensemble and Advanced Saxophone Ensemble.

Many of the performers were taking part in their first ever Owens concert, and everyone played extremely well, demonstrating a really high level of ensemble skill in their ability to listen and communicate with each other.

Our thanks go to all the pupils who took part and to their musical directors – Ms McChrystal, Ms Coe, Mr Widden, Mr Crossley, Mrs Dodds, Mr Hunt and Mr Marshall. Our thanks also to the Music Dept staff for all their work in supporting the concert, and to the OSA for providing the interval refreshments.

We are looking forward to our forthcoming Autumn Concert (Tuesday 27th November @ 7.00pm), and Winter Concert (Wednesday 5th December @ 7.00pm), followed by the Nine Lessons and Carols Service (Monday 17th December @ 7.30pm). We do hope you can join us!

OSA Quiz Night Success!

The OSA (Owen’s School Association) would like to thank all those who attended the Autumn Term Quiz night on Saturday night!

Over 260 guests (parents, sixth form students, staff, alumni and friends) tested their knowledge in a wide range of categories such as entertainment, food, music and politics. The evening was a great success and raised over £4,000 for the school.

A big thank you to all those who worked so hard to make the evening such as fantastic success! Do keep a look out for the next OSA event next term!

Year 11 GCSE Information Evening!

Dear Year 11 Parents/Carers,

On Thursday 15th November we had a very well attended Year 11 Information Evening. As mentioned on the night, we have shared the GCSE revision and support presentation with everyone for their own reference (please refer to the documents section to the right). Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other queries or questions about how together we best support our students in KS4, and see you all at Parents’ Evening on Thursday.

Kind regards,

Mr Grimstead and Miss Surry
