GCSE success at the Young Fashion Designer UK final!

Last weekend, 3 GCSE Textiles Design students, Gabbie Brissenden, Louise Wise and Rachel Williams, and one A level student, Kathy Young, were chosen to compete in the South East final of the Young Fashion Designer UK Competition. The competition is run by Kent College in Pembury and is open to GCSE and A level students across the South East of the country.

The finalists had to put up a display of their work and be interviewed by judges from the fashion industry. All of the students where a credit to the school and Louise Wise won the GCSE category with her futuristic coat which featured LED lights in the sleeves and a Jackson Pollock inspired printed lining.

Owen’s Bake Off 2018!

Tuesday 26th June saw the 8th annual lower school baking competition. 38 keen bakers from Years 7, 8 and 9 took part in a 2 hour competition to bake an item that could be served for afternoon tea. This year we were delighted to welcome Mrs Nemko, Mr Fry and Mr Jackson as our guest judges, who all did a great job of tasting 38 different dishes!

This year’s winners were:
Year 7: Zoey Leahy with her Cupcake plant pots
Year 8: Greta Beynon with her Red velvet cupcakes
Year 9: India Jordan Jones with her platter of Earl Grey biscuits and raspberry cake

The overall winner of the competition was Year 7 student, Emilia Pantelides, for her delicious blueberry and lemon loaf cake.

Congratulations to all students!
