Chinese Delegation visit DAOS!

Last week, we were delighted to welcome a delegation of 25 Chinese teachers and dignitaries from Hubei Province in Central China along with University of Hertfordshire representatives and interpreter Mr William Wang to DAOS.

The delegation visited the School to look at the curriculum and the use of technology in the classroom. They observed lessons across many different departments and watched a presentation by our Year 9 digital leaders who have been training teachers in the best use of technology and apps in the classroom.

Please see our end of half term newsletter published next Friday for further details!

A huge thank-you!

Many thanks to all those who kindly made donations to our Harvest Festival appeal.

The Watford Foodbank, who are part of The Trussell Trust, collected all of the goods this week and sent us this certificate of appreciation.

Redheart Theatre Company visits DAOS!

Once again this year, we were fortunate enough to welcome experienced actor, Rupert Mason, from Redheart Theatre Company, to perform H.G Wells’ The Red Room and Edgar Allen Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart, for another superb Gothic tales presentation.

As Year 9 near the end of their study of Gothic literature, it was timely that such an atmospheric and chilling production was experienced. Rupert Mason presented an intense and hypnotising recitation of both tales to an audience who showed fear and enjoyment in equal measure. An informative Q&A session followed the performance where students’ questions were answered in great detail, leaving them with an incentive to further explore the genre.

Thanks to the English Department for enabling this valuable experience to take place.

Autumn Term OSA Quiz Night!

This year’s OSA (Owen’s School Association) Autumn Quiz is being held on Saturday 11th November 2017.

The quiz nights are very popular and it is a fun way to raise some money for the school and for you to meet other Owen’s parents whether you’re a quiz new comer or regular quiz goer! You can book as a team or let the OSA put you together with other parents of the same year/form group. A cold supper is included and the bar will be open as usual.

For full details and booking form see www.theOSA.org.uk or email the OSA using events@theOSA.org.uk
