Secondary Transfer September 2019 (current Year 5 children)

Note: FAQ’s for Parents – Please refer to our comprehensive FAQs list before contacting the school with any queries. This will enable our Admissions Office to deal with priority calls – thank you.

Letters with details of the academic and music tests were sent by Royal Mail (2nd class) on Monday 9th July to all families that had registered on time.  If you have not received your letter by Friday 13th July please email the Admissions Department including a copy of your test registration confirmation.

If you are interested in applying for a school place for Admission 2019 (this includes Siblings, Looked After Children, Locality, Exam, Music, Staff), you should:-

  • Read our Admissions Arrangements for Secondary Transfer 2019. This will give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with our admissions rules.
  • Between 1st September – 31st October 2018 include Dame Alice Owen’s School as one of your preferences when you submit your Common Application Form (CAF) to your home Local Authority. NB This is the ONLY form you need to complete to make an application. There is NO additional form required by the School.

Local Priority Areas

In order to register for our Entrance Exam and/or Music Tests your child’s permanent home address must be within one of the listed areas below by the date of registration. Children from outside of these areas are not eligible to be considered under these criteria and therefore cannot take our tests.

Academic Places – offered up to and including ranked position 121.

Music Places – offered up to and including ranked position 13.

Distance Criteria  2/7 – the furthest home-school distance we have been able to allocate a place to is 1041.78 metres from the address point for the school.

Continuing Interest

If you gave Dame Alice Owen’s School a higher preference than the school you have been allocated you  will automatically continue to be considered for a place at Dame Alice Owen’s School up until the end of the summer termYou should accept the place you have been offered but you do not need to take any other action.  If you wish to be considered for a place beyond July you can make  a new In Year application for Year 7 via Hertfordshire County Council towards the end of the summer term.  This process will be explained in the letter you received.
