The Governors are fully committed to ensuring that our admissions arrangements are applied fairly to all applicants, including any child with special educational needs or with a disability.
Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs
Parents whose child has a Statement of Special Educational Needs or EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan) and are interested in applying to the school are invited in the first instance to contact our Head of Learning Support, Mr A Wharton by email:- email@example.com
Adjustments for Entrance Tests
If you consider that your child might be disadvantaged under the terms of the Disability Discrimination Act, or has special educational needs which require particular provision for the tests, you must:
- advise us at the start of the registration process by completing the Special Requirements section of the online Test Registration Form (TRF)
- provide written evidence (on headed notepaper) from the Head teacher of your child’s current school. This letter should outline your child’s normal way of working, the provision normally given and how this relates to the proposed arrangements.
This information should be sent by post or email immediately following test registration together with a copy of the test registration confirmation email to:
The Admissions Officer Dame Alice Owen’s School, Dugdale Hill Lane, Potters Bar Herts EN6 2DU.
It is very important you ensure that the paperwork is received by the School no later than Wednesday 14th June 2017 (provisional). It may not be possible to consider information received after this date due to administrative constraints.
Following consideration of the written information parents will be advised of any adjustments the School decides are appropriate.
Arrangements might include:
- Enlarged type for examination papers
- A desk near the front of the examination room for the hearing impaired
- Extra time / rest breaks
We would appreciate if you could refer to our comprehensive FAQs list before contacting the school with any further queries, as you may find the answer to your question here. This will enable our Admissions Officer and general office staff to deal with priority calls – thank you for your consideration.
