D of E Awards

dofe_logo_daosWe have a flourishing DofE programme enjoyed by many students throughout Years 10 – 13, co-ordinated by one of our most experienced PE teachers, Miss A Lord. Students achieve an Award (either Bronze, Silver or Gold) by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five for Gold). These sections are:walking

  • Volunteering – helping someone, your community or the environment
  • Physical – becoming fitter through sport, dance or fitness activities
  • Skills – developing existing talents or trying something new
  • Expedition – planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey
  • Residential (Gold only) – staying and working away from home as part of a team

All achievements for each activity are recorded on eDofE by students uploading documents/photos to their personal account (they are provided with a username and password), which are then approved by the school’s assessor to complete the award.

The length of time you have to spend on each section depends on the level of programme you’re doing. The PDF (right) gives a summary of levels and timescales and a wealth of information is available on the DofE website:

Miss A Lord’s message to current students:

“Are you the type of person that has a real zeal for life? Do you enjoy helping people, learning new skills or improving ones you already have, keeping physically active and most of all enjoy the outdoors? If you’ve said yes to most or all of these then DofE is for you.

To explore more information, or look at relevant links you can log in to Life VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) to help you make your decision about starting the scheme.
