DAOS Book Club end of term lunch

Members of the Book Club were thrilled to have a guest appearance from author Penny Joelson, who came to talk to them about her recent book, Girl in the Window. Most of the members had read and loved I Have No Secrets, and were really excited to hear about Girl in the Window. As a special treat Penny read part of her draft opening to her next book, which she has started writing. The book is still in its very early stages and this caused lots of lively discussion about how to develop the story. Many thanks to Penny for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit us.

Both books are great mystery stories with many exciting plot twists and intriguing characters.  I have No Secrets and Girl in the Window are on Mrs Compton’s Library reading lists for Years 7, 8 and 9.

Christmas Jumper Day!

Just a reminder that Friday 21st December (our last day!) is Christmas Jumper Day!

Please could students give £1 to their Form Tutors on the Friday morning.

The Book Club gets creative!

On Tuesday members of the DAOS Library Book Club were treated to an Origami Workshop run by Mrs Barbor, one of our parent helpers. Last years’ workshop was such a success that the students asked for one again. Mrs Barbor explained how to make very colourful spinners that could double as Christmas decorations. Everyone managed to make at least one decoration, with accomplished origami enthusiasts producing several, with different colour themes.

Many thanks to Mrs Barbor for running this workshop.
