Gothic Horror comes to DAOS!

Year 9 students enjoyed a morning of Gothic Horror on Tuesday, welcoming Rupert Mason from Redheart Theatre Company for his annual retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s  ‘The Tell Tale Heart’ and ‘The Red Room’ by H.G. Wells.  Students were rapt with his atmospheric performance, brought alive with a soundscape and lighting to fully immerse them in the experience.

A superb Q&A session followed with probing questions asked by many students in an effort to understand the techniques behind such wonderful writing.

DAOS take part in the Arkley Senior Golf Challenge!

Many thanks to Mr Meekin for this report:

Last week we had two teams taking part in the Arkley Senior Golf Challenge at Arkley Golf Club. Competing against students from all Key Stages we had a fantastic result with Brendan Brunton (Y8), Alfie Reynolds (Y8) and Maisie O’Shea (Y9) finishing first overall!

Our other team comprising of Year 9 students; Victor Blaikley-Gomez, Alistair Clews, Tom Liddamore and Jonathan Boscott also played some excellent golf and worked brilliantly together as a team. Well done to all!

Michaelmas Day remembered!

Many thanks to Old Owenians, Valarie Cross (nee Stubbs) and Pamela Mansi (nee Stubbs), two of the four sisters who attended Owen’s from 1943-55, who once again sent us these beautiful flowers along with this note:

‘Michaelmas Day, 29th September, was always celebrated as the School Birthday at Owen’s Girls School. Happy Birthday everyone!’
