Owen’s musicians at the South East Schools’ Chamber Music Competition. Thursday 3rd March
Thirty of our chamber musicians travelled to North London Collegiate School to take part in the above competition.
Each of our 6 ensembles performed to the adjudicator Michael Dussek, who gave them an immediate coaching session on their pieces. With repertoire ranging from Agay to Reicha, from Mendelssohn to Brahms and Dvorak to Martinu, it was a morning packed with musical insights and interesting explorations! We were immensely proud of our students’ performances and enjoyed hearing them refine their playing still further under Mr Dussek’s expert guidance. His words to the performers:
“….thank you for giving me such an enjoyable few days listening to you all. The standard of the performances was amazing and you will carry this achievement throughout your life, whether or not you become a professional musician….every single performance gave me pleasure and there are some that I will never forget. “
