Return to Admissions

Covid-19 and Admissions

Guidance released by the Department for Education last week strongly advises that tests should not be held at the start of September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governors of the school are in agreement with this advice and are therefore  requesting a Variation to our Admissions Arrangements from the Regional Schools Commissioner in order to delay our tests.

With the best interests of our candidates in mind, and to enable candidates to have some time in school before sitting the tests, it is proposed that:-

  •  the tests will not take place on the 1st and 2nd September.
  • The first round of our Entrance test and Musical Aptitude tests will  take place on the 3rd and 4th October.
  • The second round of our Entrance test (English and Maths) will be moved from the 26th September to the 7th November.
  • The second round of our Musical Aptitude test will take place over several days in late October/November (exact dates to be confirmed).

Parents will need to complete their Common Application Form without knowing the final ranking for their child.

Once we have confirmation from the Regional Schools Commissioner that our variation request has been accepted, a new invitation with exact timings will be sent to you – we hope this will be no later than Friday 4th September.  Our aim is to keep arrangements and timings as similar as possible.

Alternative dates will be offered to candidates who are unable to attend due to illness, religious observance or reasons relating to coronavirus such as exposure to someone who is ill or local protective measures.  Documented/medical confirmation will be required where possible.

Please note that these dates may still be subject to change depending on further advice from the Government or Public Health England.  Please monitor our website for any further updates.
