Return to Transition to Owens 2020

Hermitage House

You might not know this yet, but Dame Alice Owen’s School is over 400 years old. That makes it one of the oldest schools in the country. The school was originally in Islington, and only moved to Hertfordshire in the 1970s.

All of the houses are named after places important to the original school in Islington, to help us to keep our links with the area. You can read more about the school’s history here.

Houses are quite new at Owens, we reintroduced them a year ago. But Hermitage was one of the original house names for the boys school, first introduced in 1913. Hermitage is named after a field in Islington where the original school and Almshouses were built.

The Hermitage house colour is Yellow

There are 2 form groups in Hermitage, each with a form tutor and form prefects. Your email will tell you if you are in Hermitage 1 or Hermitage 2. Here is a message from your form tutor to say hello!
