Artist Sophie Coe – Landscape in Charcoal Workshop

Earlier in February, our Year 12 & 13 Art students had the pleasure of attending a landscape in charcoal workshop with artist Sophie Coe.

Sophie studied fine art, graphic design and architecture and began her career working as an architect in the UK, Asia and Australia.

She uses a variety of techniques and is largely inspired by nature.

The student feedback was fantastic.

In her report, of our students reflected “I was encouraged to take risks and combine the new methods that I had learnt in a way I would never have considered prior. It was equally inspiring to see the different approaches of my classmates and the newfound enthusiasm for the medium that blossomed around the room. I am very proud of my finished outcome and am incredibly grateful to Sophie for growing my confidence working with charcoal as well as my experimentation with media generally: going forward I will continue to find opportunities to be bold with my artwork.”.

Thank you to Sophie Coe for joining us.
