Charity football match goes to penalties!

Every year, our Year 12 and 13 Further Maths students go head to head in a charity football match just before study leave.

This year’s match was a hard fought battle to say the least! Sixth Former, Arthur, had the challenging role of referee on the day and his match report below provides all of the highlights from this very close match!

“Last Thursday lunchtime, there was an enthralling annual charity football match between Year 12 and 13 Further Maths students at Owens. A dramatic back and forth game required a penalty shoot out to split the two teams: 2-2 being the score after normal time, which itself went to sudden death. Eventually, thanks to a heroic save from captain Zak, the Year 13’s emerged triumphant, becoming the first team to successfully win the match in back to back years. It was incredible to see a record-breaking crowd attendance that ensured a sizeable donation to the North London Hospice was collected. Well done to all players with the courage to take part and special thanks to team captains Ari and Zak for organising the event.”
