Art Trip to Madrid

Our A level artists recently visited the beautiful metropolitan city of Madrid in search of inspiration for their respective themes, Contrast and Union. We were fortunate enough to view some of Spain’s most famous paintings including Picasso’s Guernica in the The Reina Sofia, one of the three golden triangle of Museums including The Thyssen-Bornemisza and The Prado. We also spent an afternoon sketching in the breathtaking El Retiro Park which has recently been named a UNESCO world heritage site.

Our students produced outstanding work in their sketchbooks documenting their experience of Madrid’s amazing architecture and Spanish culture. We were extremely proud of their attitude to learning, togetherness and enthusiasm for what was a memorable tour of the Spanish capital. Malaika said, ‘It was a great bonding experience’, and Amina described our journey as, ‘truly memorable, I just loved everything about Madrid and I would definitely return’.

Well done to all our young artists and we look forward to seeing their work in our forthcoming exhibition in June.
