Oliver Dowden MP pays Owen’s a visit

On Friday 27th January Oliver Dowden MP (Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster) visited the school.

Mr. Dowden began his visit with Mrs. Nemko as they sat down to discuss several of the most pressing issues in education right now. Following this, Mr. Dowden kindly agreed to a Q&A session with our A Level Politics students. Mr. Dowden answered questions on a range of topics including how he got into politics, his favourite moments at Prime Ministers Question time, his view on public sector strikes and on the tax affairs of Nadhim Zahawi.

We are extremely grateful to him for his time. It was a great opportunity for our Politics students to meet a cabinet minister and the visit also happened to perfectly coincide with their studies as they are currently comparing and contrasting various prime ministers and their respective relationships with their cabinets.
